This seven-story condominium of 55 units stands in a quiet residential district of low- and high-rise residential buildings in Setagaya ward, Tokyo incorporating beautiful areas such as Roka Koshun’en Park and the Kasuya Bamboo Grove (both among Setagaya’s “100 Famous Landscapes). Seeking to express harmony with this local landscape, Nikken Sekkei Design chose as the building’s motif the Roka Koshun’en Park, which commemorates novelist Tokutomi Roka’s (1868-1927) devotion to coexistence of people with nature. The design aimed to enrich the lives of residents through unity with the local community and the environment.
